TLC’s Ivy Payne Preserve will be open for a weekend of camping, guided hikes, and other activities. Come for the day or stay for the weekend.

Check out photos from our 2023 Spring camping weekend!

We will have three FREE guided hikes over the weekend that are open to everyone! The preserve will also be open from dawn to dusk on Saturday if visitors would like to explore on their own.

Saturday, April 27th at 10:00am

Saturday, April 27th at 2:00pm

Sunday, April 28th at 10:00am

  • TLC’s Ivy Payne Preserve is located south of Palestine, just outside the small town of Elkhart. You can plug the address “650 An County Rd, Elkhart, TX 75839”. Once you turn onto Anderson County Road 134, the road will dead end into the preserve. Please follow the signs and take the driveway to the right to park by the signs.

Two hikes will take place on Saturday (4/29), one at 10am and the second at 2pm. You are welcome to join us for both hikes and stay for lunch in between if you like (sandwiches, wraps, and salads). An additional hike will take place on Sunday (4/30) at 10am. There will be something different to see on each hike. Please plan to arrive at least 15 minutes before the start of the hike to get signed in.

We recommend long pants, closed-toe shoes, sunscreen and insect repellent. Please bring a refillable water bottle. Children are welcome, if accompanied by an adult. Check the weather before you come. It should be a nice spring weekend, but plan on wearing layers and be prepared for rain. We’ll hike rain or shine, unless there is lightning. Bathrooms available at the preserve.
