Protected Places: Video Spotlights

By sharing videos, we bring the stories of the land to life—its history, biodiversity, and the communities it sustains. Seeing and hearing these stories, we hope you feel inspired to deepen your connection to the natural beauty, cultural richness, and ecological importance of what makes Texas so special.

Protected Places: Black Cap Heaven

Black Cap Heaven is 128 acres of Hill Country habitat and history protected forever.

The property is maintained with a hands-off approach, allowing nature to thrive with minimal human interference. Its shrublands and grasslands support diverse flora and fauna, making it a crucial habitat within the central migratory flyway corridor, especially for the Black-capped Vireo. Black Cap Heaven also boasts archaeological treasures dating back to the Early Archaic period. We are so grateful to landowners Dr. Errol and Mrs. Susan Candy for protecting their land and sharing their story.
