TLC currently monitors 214 properties throughout Texas totaling over 169,000 acres. This position reports to the Conservation Director, is part of a five-person conservation team and is responsible for TLC work in the Hill Country.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Stewardship: Connect with landowners and visit TLC’s conservation easement and fee simple properties to document issues and violations.

  • Preserve Management: Develop and implement management plans, identify funding needs, and coordinate projects with volunteers and community partners.

  • Outreach: Build relationships with donors, businesses, volunteers, and area naturalist groups and host strategic events in the region.

  • Communications: Help support TLC’s online presence through social media posts and blog content.

  • Project Evaluation and Recommendations: Help evaluate new projects and respond to inquiries from private landowners.

  • Baseline Reports: Work with Conservation Director and Acquisitions Manager to develop baseline reports for new conservation land acquisitions, including data collection of habitats and property improvements.

  • You know Texas Flora and Fauna with emphasis on the Hill Country region (required)

  • You have experience implementing prescribed burns and other land management methods (strongly preferred).

  • You’re proficient in ArcGIS software, map creation, and GPS use.

  • You’re available for extensive travel with occasional overnight trips (required).

  • You enjoy working remotely and work well independently.

  • You have at least 5 years of related work experience in land conservation or natural resources field.

  • You have a reliable personal vehicle and a productive home-office environment.

Compensation:

  • $65,000–$70,000 depending on experience. Salary negotiable with advanced degree or greater experience.

  •  TLC provides a 401(k) plan.

  • Enrollment in TLC’s health care plan is fully covered by the organization.

  • Each regular full-time employee receives 12 paid holidays, based on the federal calendar.

  • 12 days of vacation per year for employees with less than one year of service.

  • TLC provides a $30/month stipend for employee cell phone use.

  • Travel expenses are reimbursed.
