The Acquisitions Manager is part of the conservation team and advances the organization's land conservation mission by managing the transactional phase of conservation easement acquisitions, ensuring projects move efficiently from landowner commitment through closing. This position ensures projects are well documented, mission-aligned, and compliant with organizational policies, funding requirements, and applicable real estate standards. The Acquisitions Manager also secures and administers funding for conservation easement projects.

What you’ll be doing:

Acquisition Management

  • Work with senior staff and field representatives to manage and track the full conservation easement acquisition process.

  • Coordinate communication among landowners, partners, service providers, and legal counsel throughout the process.

  • Maintain organized records and documentation for all acquisitions in accordance with Land Trust Alliance (LTA) Standards and Practices.

  • Ensure all completed transactions are accurately documented and archived.


Due Diligence and Document Review

  • Review transaction documents, including title reports, mineral assessments, surveys, baseline documentation reports, and conservation easements.

  • Identify and address potential issues or discrepancies during due diligence.

  • Collaborate with legal and technical advisors to ensure accuracy and compliance in all documentation.


Conservation Funding and Grants Management

  • Stay current on available funding sources for conservation easements, including federal, state, and private grant opportunities.

  • Manage the full grant lifecycle, including researching eligibility, preparing and submitting applications, and tracking deadlines.

  • Ensure timely communication with funders and stakeholders.

  • Maintain accurate records and prepare required reports to meet funder compliance and reporting obligations.

  • Maintain relationships with funding agencies and partners to support ongoing and future funding opportunities.

Compensation:

  • $70,000+ depending on experience. Salary negotiable with advanced degree or greater experience.

  • TLC provides a 401k plan.

  • Enrollment in TLC’s health care plan is covered by TLC.

  • Each regular full-time employee will receive 10 paid holidays, to be based on federal holidays.

  • 12 days of vacation per year for employees with less than one year service.

  • TLC provides a $30 /month stipend for employee’s cell phone use.

  • Travel expenses will be reimbursed.
