Bison Stomp at Malone Preserve

  • Vivian J. Malone Preserve - Texas Land Conservancy County Road 1109B Rio Vista, TX, 76093 United States (map)

Join TLC and our partners from the Texas Master Naturalists, Rio Brazos Chapter for our 2nd annual habitat restoration hike and “Bison Stomp” at TLC’s Vivian J. Malone Preserve, a 145-acre nature preserve in Rio Vista, TX. On a day ususally dedicated to shopping- #OptOutside with TLC members and spend a fun day in nature!

No skills needed! Enjoy a guided hike out to the prairie areas where we will spread native seed and stomp it into the ground like the bison did many years ago. The fall is an ideal time to plant natives, and when the new growth emerges in the spring, it will provide increased habitat and food for our native birds and other wildlife.

The hike will take approximately 1.5 hours, and refreshments will be available before and after. Please wear closed-toed shoes and bring a water bottle. Families are welcome, but children must be accompanied by an adult. Due to limited parking, space is limited. We ask that you register below so that we know how many people to expect:
